ABOUT CVPA’s PROFESSIONAL GUILD – HOW IT WORKS

The CVPA Professional Guild’s purpose is to give not only a “face” to the Charlottesville area professional filmmaking community, but to support area film, audio, video and new media professionals through specialized events.

As in other guilds, members are accepted after a quorum (85%) of current CVPA Professional Guild members look over the application/credits and vote.

Applications for membership are considered quarterly (January, April, July, October).  There is no cost or dues to join the Professional Guild at this time, other than the corporate membership fee.

Guidelines used when considering an application submitted:

1. Does the applicant reside (at least part time) in the Charlottesville or the Southwest Area of Virginia…and therefore qualify as a CVPA chapter member?
2. Does the applicant have professional credits?  For at least 2 years?
3. Does the applicant’s “profession” listed (on the application) match their credit given on screen or corporate job title?
4. Is the applicant a member of any other professional guilds such as WGA, DGA, CSA, SAG or AFTRA? Not mandatory, but professional status is more easily determined this way.
5. Has the applicant joined VPA as a corporate level member?  All Professional Guild members must join VPA at the corporate level

If you are a corporate member of VPA and would like to be considered for CVPA’s Professional Guild BUT you reside in another chapter’s area, such as Richmond or Hampton Roads, we are very sorry, it is not possible to join the CVPA Professional Guild.  But, please consider starting a Professional Guild within your chapter!
